The Physicians at Grace
Our physicians at Grace, OB/GYN are well-trained professionals with medical expertise and a heart for patient care.
David L. Cobb, Jr., MD, FACOG
Dr. Cobb received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee in Memphis, then moved to Asheville to complete his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC). He has been practicing in Asheville at Grace since 1999. He loves his profession; particularly the richness of interacting with and caring for people as they navigate important times in their lives. Dr. Cobb and his wife have six children. He spends a lot of time hiking and camping for Boy Scouts with his five sons and enjoys cultivating the family's extensive vegetable garden.
Logan Lechner, MD, FACOG
Dr. Lechner was born west of Kansas City and raised in Albuquerque, NM. He moved back to Kansas to attend Kansas State University, followed by medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City. OB/GYN residency brought him to UNC Chapel Hill, where he met his wife, Sharon, a family medicine physician. In 2011, Dr. Lechner joined MAHEC as a faculty physician, where he provided care for routine and high risk obstetric patients, as well as a wide variety of gynecologic patients. He participated in the education of resident physicians and directed the gynecologic surgery rotation with a special interest in minimally-invasive surgical approaches. After more than six years at MAHEC, a desire to return to one-on-one relationships with his patients drew Dr. Lechner to join Grace OB/GYN in January of 2018. Outside of medicine, Dr. Lechner enjoys spending time with his wife and two young daughters, participating in outdoor activities of all kinds, reading, and traveling.
Danica McAden, MD
Dr. McAden will be joining the practice in the fall of 2022 after completion of her residency at Mountain Area Health Education Center here in Asheville. Dr. McAden and her family are originally from Lubbock, Texas, where she completed her medical degree at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. Before fulfilling her dream of becoming a physician, she and her husband, Greg, lived for 5 years in Russia, where they served as missionaries.
Dr. McAden is thrilled to join our practice to continue to provide excellent care for the women of western North Carolina. When she is not caring for her patients, she is spending time with her husband and two teenage children. Her hobbies include traveling, cooking, learning languages, putting miles on her Peloton, and cheering on the sidelines for all her kids’ activities.
Thomas ShakAr, MD
Dr. Shakar joined the practice in August of 2021 after the completion of his residency at Mountain Area Health Education Center here in Asheville. After working with him over the last four years, the physicians at Grace OBGYN feel his experience, enthusiasm, and skill in women’s health will be a great addition to our practice. Dr. Shakar is originally from Tallahassee, Florida and completed both his undergraduate and medical degrees at Florida State University. He loves the mountains of Western North Carolina and enjoys anything outdoors, including sustainable farming and homesteading activities and sustainable energy projects.
